why do american people think its ok to bash the dixie chicks for thier beliefs and send death threats and all when they think its outrageous that muslims in parts of the world acted out to the danish cartoons?
i think its unfair how people only look at situations in their own interests. everyone was like " oh, it's freedom of speech, freedom of speech" to the cartoonists for promoting a prejudice, and then they're like "dixie chicks suck" for voicing an opinion people didn't think they should have, because of their typical fan base's beliefs?

what do you guys think?

i am to allowed to show my face. i don't even wear hijab. Muslims gave rights to people way before americans and any other society did. the people that did whatever you're talking are not true Muslims because you don't act out it violence or transgress limits. Whoever they are insecure people who acted out and tried to hid thier actions behind a religion or else they would have just taken responisblity for the actions themselves. They're not representing Islam at all- a couple of men over 1.2 billion Muslims in all countries. Does Adolf Hitler represent all Christians or Germans? I don't think so. Be tolerant and educated in your answers, I am.

also don't think i'm approving of what happened over the cartoon incident . i think it was wrong, but i sitll think people shouldn't approve of what the cartoonists did either. what is free speech when you're just saying comments without knowledge and that doesn't benefit anyone only hurt. thats why i'm comparing these to statements.

It was just people who disagreed with their statement from Natalie that put up such a fuss. Freedom of speech protects many less important things and many more intrusive things than a celebrity voicing an opinion! I think that would be the least of people's concerns. It is just the political people keeping score. I don't know why it got out of hand.

Well sungirl.. let us look at the situation....

We here in the US have a freedom of speech to "bash" anyone IE. we can boycott their products and we can talk bad about them. however if we threaten harm then yes it is against the law and those people should be prosecuted for assault..

However let us look at the Danish cartoon example..
Cities were burned.. heads of states asked for vengeance..

Please name building that was burned or property destroyed because of the dixie chicks....

if you think the two are the same then may God help your stupidity

By the way Jihad Jane...
I don't have to be courteous because you are islamic.. I live in a free country.. do you? I have the freedom not to be courteous... You aren't even allowed to show your face.. you are worth less then animals in your world... Was Daniel Pearl treated courteous when your brothers beheaded him in the name of your religion.....

They can speak & sing, but I do not have to listen or buy CDs.
When I go to concert, I do not care what the singer's "personal" beliefs are. If they hate the US, pick another country, there are a few countries left that will listen to their big fat mouths. We allow them to talk but we are not forced to listen. It is our freedom of speech that allows us to call them names.Do only liberals have a freedom of speech? I did not think so.

Yes, it did get out of hand. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and many people have voiced the same complaint.
Bush sucks.
The only reason she caught so much attention is because she's famous, and is supposed to "set a good example" for us common folks. She shouldn't be sorry and shouldn't have to apologize. It's HER opinion.
I do think more attention should be paid to those who show great disrespect and irregard to the people of the US.

The Dixie Chicks were just plain stupid. They *know* that the majority of their fans support Bush, but they had to open their mouths anyway. They did it to themselves.

I think they suck.
Death threats are not right.
People in general have voted with their dollars.

Point is that muslim idiots are willing to slice your head off ala Theo van Gogh.
Keep that in mind next time you make a comparison.
