This tree is very large and a wonderful shade tree, so cutting it down would be a last resort. These seed balls require a tremendous amount of work keeping them raked up--in fact these balls fall 12 months out of the year. I have heard of some type of treatment to prevent their formation. Can someone please help me with this? Thanks in advance!

There is a product called Fruit Eliminator that makes the flower think its been pollinated whenit hasn't and the fruit does not develop. I've seen it in some Lawn & garden centers. WE used to carry it at ours but stopped for some reason. Call around and see if you can find one that does. Also try agricultural stores like Farm & Fleet, etc.
