My wife and I have been together for 5 years, and she has wanted a baby for about 2 years now. About a year ago we decided to plan for our first baby, we bought safe cars, paid off all our debt, traveled, did home improvements, etc. We decided to start in January 2007 because our house will be paid off in August 2007 and we will have plenty of money for a baby.
My wife has been getting more anxious lately about trying for a baby. We have 3 more months before our “starting” date and she is getting moody with me because she feels she has been waiting for years and the last few months have been torture for her. Two of her friends (who are have been with their boyfriends for less than 2 years) are pregnant, so now she is more upset then ever.
How do I get her to be patient for the last 3 months? I am excited too, but she is way anxious to start and I feel bad for telling her no, but we need to wait until January. I want all my ducks in a row before we start trying!
Help me!

Just start trying now. everything sounds in order, whats 3 months, pregnancy is long!!! Plus, you think she is moody now, if you wait 3 months, then she will be prego for the whole hot summer, look out! lol, but seriosly, it may take some time to get pregnant, lots of people don't get lucky first try. It took us 6 months to get pregnant withour first, so just start trying, remember, happy wife, happy life!

I think its great that you are trying to be extremely responsible about planning for your new arrival. However, I think sometimes people try to control to much of their lives-you aren't guaranteed to get pregnant right away in Jan once you start "trying." So why not relieve some stress for both of you and stop trying to "schedule" a child. What difference will 3 months really make?Your wife might feel that you are placing greater importance on $ than her feelings- maybe you should make this a time you both can enjoy before it creates a big riff.
Our children were not planned and in a lot of ways this help relieve any anticipation anxiety-- I always feel bad for the couples that wait to have children til everything else in there lives is set and then come to realize they've waited to long to conceive-- trust me when you become a parent you realize that a lot of things are beyond your control!

Oh goodness go ahead and start trying what difference will the next three months make in the long run. Remember it may take 6 months to get pregnant. And even if she got pregnant right away your ducks can still be in a line. She wouldnt have to quit working or anything that soon. This will make your wife happy and calm the stress in your home.

I can understand how she feels, wanting a baby and been told to wait is like a child being told he has to wait till after dinner before he can have junk food, I say let what happens happen, If you are so determine that you want the other things out of the way first then explain to her this giving her the pros and cons of waiting for another three months If you put to much pressure on yourselves you will have too much stress and the baby just won't happen when you want to start trying tell her to relax and it will make making a baby when you are both ready much more fun..Good Luck....

Why are you torturing her like that? She wants a baby, you are cruel for withholding that for a paltry 3 months so the house will be paid off. Kids get more expensive as they get OLDER. They don't start out at top end and work downwords. I'm sure you'll be able to afford a few months of diapers AND house payments. Like we all do. Some of us have children AND debt! And guess what? We can love our children with all our hearts anyway!

I think you should loosen up a little, and just start trying! It may be 3 months before she even gets pregnant, especially with this being your first! I have friends that it took 6 months to a year to conceive! Give her her baby, and everyone will be happy! Good luck!

Hate to ask this, but how old are you and your wife? I was 34 when I got pregnant. It took me 3 years to get pregnant. I had to complete my B.A. degree before I could even start thinking of a baby(s). I graduated in 2002 and started trying from there on.
In April 2005, I conceived and in Nov. 2005 we gave birth to two very healthy 32 week old twin baby girls.
So, take into consideration your ages when it comes to having a baby. It may take longer than you think, especially if she is stressing out.
Hope this has helped you a little bit.

Tell her that stress can affect ovulation. It is better to naturally go at it then doing it over and over to conceive. Therefore, think of it like love: Don't go looking for it, it will find you. You should start now, because if it happens, it happens. It is better that you are prepared now rather then a few years back, that is all that matters. Don't be a control freak about it though. Just because you want to conceive in January doesn't actually mean it will happen.

Heavens, you can plan a baby, but why wait? Its only a few more months what difference does it make only montly wise either being Leo or Virgo. As long as the baby is healthy is what really matters, just go ahead and have this wonderful blessed child that is waiting for you both! Good luck, Jad
