that saying only applies to certain situations i have a bunch of naggy friends and some that are not naggy sometimes some people need more help then others and being there for that person is to be a true friend because if all friends were self sufficient why have friends at all at that point they just become someone you pass time with which is like a tv

Depends how often they are in need. Needing help every now and then is very human. However, your "constantly bitching" friend sounds like she needs to learn to take care of herself. This is not your problem, and if you can't step back from her problems - forcing her to own them herself and take responsibility for her life - without ceasing the friendship, then yes, you should probably end it.

dont be her friend then, but think about howd you feel if something was up in ur life and she felt that way about you. but sometimes there's just people like that who always have a problem. u have to be the judge of that.

what that means is that if a friend has a problem or needs help, that is the most important time to be there for them and to be a good friend and vice versa (sp? lol)

if a friend didn't need you she would probably never see you, because thats all friends are, they need each other constantly
