Go through with the interview. The interviewer may ask about your availability or at the end they will ask if you have questions or anything else you want them to know. That would be the time to mention that you are only available weekends. They may need people just to cover weekend shifts. Although, you may need to be flexible for your training. Also offer them more open availability when you are not in school and don't have basketball. If you impress them during the interview, they may be willing to work with weekend coverage. I have been a manager in retail for a long time and every company I have worked for, we always look for extra people to cover the weekend shifts and esp. during the holidays. Also, as a seasonal associate, you are not as big of a liability to the company, so they may be more flexible. Be sure to offer to work the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas...Good Luck!!!

Well, a lot of part-time jobs hire based on how flexible you are. Part-times are expected to be able to work during weeknights because full-timers usually work during the day. However, I would go for the interview and just explain your situation. The worst that can happen is you won't get the job, but you'll have more interview experience.

When you go to your interview, be as profession as possible. Being professional includes being honest. Don't make them feel that you are wasting their time. You probably have more of a chance of getting the job if you are honest. Depending on what positions are open, maybe they have seasonal weekend shifts. If they don't hire you, just look for another job that will hire you on the weekend. Prioritize!!!

The more flexible you are, the more likely it is that they will hire you.
Another thing, it all depends on how desperate they are. If they have 18 other folks lined up for job interviews, then you don't have much of a chance.

No, especially during the busiest season of the year, you should've thought about it before you made the committment, ask and see what they say, isn't there a way you can put off basketball for a while?
If you tell them the reason why, they'll just send you home, they see you have other priorities and they are not one of them. Don't tell them because of sports, but school.

Since Christmas is comming they may hire you just for weekends, but be prepared for the layoff in January. Just make sure you are up front with them. When they ask you at the end of the interview if you have any questions, if it hasn't come up already make sure you address it then.

unfortunately, probably not. If it's seasonal they usually want more than just weekends. Doesn't hurt to go to the interview though, to practice, and you can see how they react to the question. Good luck!

Maybe. If they call you for an interview, it is best that you are honest with them. Since it is seasonal work and most of the shopping is done on the weekends, they may work with you.
