Art is art....it should be appreciated for what it is, not who created it.

Since Hitler is dead and this sale will not help him or his cause in any way I don't see it being any worse than any other sale of art.

Personally I wouldn't spend $20,000 on ANY piece of art....not with people starving and dying of disease every day.

No, I do not think so. I do think of the history of Hitler, that until he went down the wrong path he did unit Germany per war bringing them out of a depression, but no, I would rather give that money to a City Mission to be put to good use.

No, I love art and often buy art from artists at local shows. I would NOT buy a piece by Hitler. I would rather spend the money on something else.

When I buy a painting, I buy the painting because I love it, I don't "endorse" the person who painted it. I think the price is outrageous--& could have been put to better use--but that's not up to me to decide. I had a friend who would NOT listen to Wagner, only because Wagner was anti-semitic. Apples & oranges. If the value of any sort of creativity rested on the morals/personality etc. of the person who created it--wow. What a can of worms!

yes, i would buy it. it isn't like I'm giving the money to him or anything. it is part of history, especially art history. even though i think his ideas on art were totally odd, he still created art and impacted art. i wouldn't look at it in awe and respect as i do Michelangelo's work or someone who wasn't a mass murderer. i don't condone a single thing Hitler did, but i would spend money on a piece of his art....

i would rather buy other famous artists work if given that opportunity, though.

A Chinese scholar said that Mao's poems were "Better than Hitler's paintings but not as good as Churchill's". I'd spend the money elsewhere.

Wealthy art collectors would buy anything with paint on it, however, I wouldn't unless I were getting a bargain.

Nope...I think I'd spend my money on a more worthy cause such as AIDS research, Cancer research, helping underprivledged kids, etc

no way - much better use for my money. That person should have donated that 20 grand to a charity or their community.
