You probully need a new starter... take it to advanced auto parts and get them to test your starter or take a look at it... most of the time that is the problem!!!

Most likely a battery, if you haven't replaced it, it's about time, they will generally only last 4-5 years. Considering it will start if you jump it, i'd say a simple battery is all it is. You might want to have your alternator checked and have them check your starter while your at it.

have you tried cleaning the battery connections? If so I would check for a bad body ground wire...that's what is sounds like...there should be a ground wire off of your battery which goes to the body fender....check this ...if that isn't it then look at the alternator...you can have this checked at the auto parts store...one easy way to check the alternator is get the car running...pull the negative battery cable and if it dies...most likely the alternator....also could be as simple as the battery is bad...but the guages jumping as you discribe suggests a bad ground wire...as described above.

Sounds like you need a new battery, or there could be a connection problem. Sometimes on a good day if you take it up to walmart and ask one of the mechanics, they will wiggle the wires or tell you wants wrong. Good Luck!

Sounds like that the cell in your battery has died. You prob need to get it replaced, go to a local garage and ask for a battery test and this will confirm.
