from defence backgrounds,isn't it time we got them from the prosecution ranks,then i think that criminals will get the right punishment that they deserve not the light sentences that are given out ,let the punisment fit the crime,

Yes we must have to rethink in this direction. The judge must be at least well aware of the context and the subject in which he is deciding a case. The qualification of judges are also in question.

It's because Prosecutors usually don't run for Judge. 99% of the time Lawyers do.

Most judges are elected and the dominant party usually wins regardless of which side they have practiced on.
