Is there typically a lot of discharge associated with this before a missed period? And what does the mucus plug discharge look like? I am not refering to later in pregnancy, when you loose the plug, but rather to very realy pregnancy when it is forming!

The mucus plug looks pretty much as the name suggests. A tightly packed cluster of mucus and blood. It is usually recognised in the later stages of pregnancy and just before the woman will give birth. Also called a ''show'', the mucus plug is what secures the opening at the neck of the womb to seal it to protect the forming foetus within it's sac of protective amniotic fluid. The plug dislodges during labour when the pelvic contractions force it out of the body. It is a sure sign that the baby is on it's way. In very early pregnancy I don't think you would really notice your body expelling it. Sometimes, if you are miscarrying you might confuse the miscarried sac for the plug. Please check it out with your GP. Very best of luck. X

it really depends on the woman. every one is different. However, you do have a lot of discharge early in pregnancy, and you do throughout pregnancy. but it looks normal, clearish/whiteish. Kinda slimy.

as for when you lose your plug, that can be very gooey like a booger. (i know it's gross) usually it's tinged with pink and there is A LOT of it.

Well hopefully you are not too early, you should not lose your plug until 38 weeks or so, usually that means you are going into labor. Check with your doctor
