It's certaintly not the optimal way for a snake to eat a mouse. I have seen my own snakes eat them that way first as well for whatever reason and I haven't noticed a problem, but I am sure that anything is possible. Just be sure to keep an eye on your snake until the mouse is in it's stomach.

that could count fullyyt upon which species of snake you're touching on- each and every species has it is very own nutritional standards. most of the species that are fed mice in captivity will eat different heat blooded prey, including birds and rodents. while you're thinking approximately getting a snake, yet are too squeamish to feed it mice, then you definately can go with a species that eats different styles of prey; in spite of if, those species are frequently confusing for a beginner.

I used to have a pet python ,and twice she ate a mouse feet first....took her a little longer to get it down her throat , but no ill effects.
Don't worry...the snake will be fine.

My kingsnake eats one backwards every now and then. It doesn't appear to cause problems.

I've seen it happen a couple of times; it won't hurt anything, but it's certainly more interesting to watch...
