I was molested by an 8th grade (male) teacher.. he lost his teaching license.
I was raped when I was a freshman.. and as a Jr/Sr by the same guy.. nothing happened..
My first husband beat me, caused me to lose our unborn baby, and raped me.. I found the right moment to run away, and divorced him.
I ended the victim role for myself.. and got on with my life. As my grandmothers use to say, Honey, if it didn't kill you, it only made you stronger.. put it behind you'

I know a teenage girl who cried wolf, at her mom's insistence.. (because her mom decided she was still head over heel sin love with her one night stand, from 13 years back) and my son almost landed up in prison for life.. but that's MI law, or so I keep telling myself.. so I won't continue to hate this 'ex.' For the record here, she's only interested in the money her men have..and what they can do for her..

No system is perfect and so far no one has been able to come up with one. You must have prof beyond a reasonable doubt and he said she said cases are very very tough to prove. Sad that people use that as a way of getting out of their punishment but it happens. However the system is set up to over protect the accused.Laws for the most part seem to protect the rights of the guilty and cause the victim to suffer more.

You know if you are a victim, what the law decided does not matter if you know it in your heart that you are.
There is free and confidential counseling for you, there are support groups to help you deal with the abuse and maybe give you more options of what can be done about it.
The national Sexual Assault Hot line Number is 1-800-656-4673
You can also do a search online of Sexual Assault. There is a ton of information.

In our system currently It's more important to protect the innocent then to punish the guilty. Therefore if there is a doubt of somoene's guilt the accused goes free. This is the price of freedom and nothing to be given up lightly.

If you listen to Republicans they seem to want Chinese-style trials where justice is perfect and everyone is guilty. That's just not the American way, however.

It's about "beyond a reasonable doubt." A victim may legitimately have been assaulted, but it requires proof to convict the assailant. It's not necessarily fair, but that's the way it is.
