I have bought some on ebay for really good prices. I bought them for go-cart projects so a title wasn't needed. If you need a title make sure it comes with one. Definately get a bill of sale though. If any problems arise "legally" at least you will have something to fall back on.

check out a magazine called Roadracing World, published by John Ullrich. Racers will wad thier bikes and then part them out.

Your local salvage yard. They should have plenty of engines left over from Squids killing themselves for poon. Expect to replace clutches and engine covers, though.
