You're not going to believe this but the TUNE for that song (and some of the words) was actually 1st done around the time of the Civil War (or earlier); They may have changed the words a bit, but basically the same...And no, I don't know who does it now, but have heard it several times...It makes me laugh because my great grandmother used to sing it to me! It went something like: do your ears hang low, do they wobble to and fro can you tie them in a knot can you tie them in a bow can you throw them over your shoulder like a continental soldier do your ears hang low?
