If it's a game than the point is to win right, so whats the deal with sims? Just wondering. ^-^

Hi GrayFox,

Sims 2 *is* a winnable game and is as flexible as a deck of cards!

First - How does one define a winnable game?
***By following someone else's rules? (Oh really?) ;)
- does a game writer make better rules than a gamer?

Okay Q & A---
Q: What can one do with a pack of playing cards.
A: Anything one wants!
=============
One can play variations on POKER, MEMORY, BLACKJACK, SOLITAIRE, 21, RUMMY, BRIDGE and other games of which likes we haven't heard.

Who hasn't played a game without inventing moves and making your own rules?
=============

Okay, now WINNING in the Sims 2!
* The "winning" is a Sim that gets his Lifetime Want (LTW) and dies with a Platinum Tombstone! Pretty simple eh? Some may have their own rules which is perfectly okay too. (Some challenges may be about torturing the Sims so their happiness is immaterial to achieve a certain goal.)

There are a zillion ways to arrive at ones goal and depending on how high the gamer chooses to raise the bar.

1. Try the Ethiopian challenge where the Sims do not have electricity, may not purchase food nor may they have a dwelling with plumbing.
2. Can you achieve your LTW and die in perma Plat? How far can you go in that direction?

Sometimes people need someone elses rules to color in the lines, sometimes we don't. We can win or lose depending on our game skills and how high did we raise the bar. :)

Think outside the box. :)

Winning is fun -- but it's variable the journey getting there which is why we play games after all.

Hope that answers your question. :)

Technically you can win. I've been playing Sims 2 for PS2 lately and the game has goals that you have to complete as well as "wants and needs" for your sim character. You must complete 10 different careers, help out 15 other sims (by satisfying their wants and needs), discover 25 (I think) recipes, etc. etc. This game actually has a tab in the pause menu where you can track your progress. Once you reach 100% you win the game. All Sims games though give you the option to continue playing with your sim after the game is over but at that point the game is kinda boring. The Urbz was a really good game. If you're thinking about getting into the Sims but are still unsure start with that. Hope this answered your question :-)

there isn't really a way to "win." You might have completed a generation of a family, but you have (hopefully) another generation to live a life. It is impossible for a person to complete Sims2
