your lackadaisical attitude towards what was once thought maniacal only proves that we are indeed cose to a nuclear war with someone. the other guys is probably thinking the same thing and you want to call him a mad man, but you prove that you are just as mad by assuming that a nuclear confrontation will not have dire worldwide consequences. waht is really at play here is fear and fear causes humans to act irrational and that is how a nuclear war will start and ultimately end the world that we now know. the manhattan project was the product of fear and greed and that is exactly whitehouse now. the american people have been continually manipulated by fearmongering for the last 5 years, maybe as a prelude for the ultimate showdown??? god help us all when the buttons are pushed. i spent many years in the military and was privy to classified information on nuclear warheads and fallout simulations. i have been to whitesands n.m. and seen the shear devastation that nuclear fission causes. anyone within a 30 mile radius of a 50 megaton bomb will be immediately incinerated. and if the prevailing jetstream winds move west to east as usual thenanyone east of the initial blast will suffer radiation burns and nuclear cell destruction within 24 hrs after the blast. millions will die within 48 hrs of the blast and millions more will continue to die years after the blast. the nuclear chemicals actually get into your dna and are passed on to your children. peole are still dying from the hiroshima blast because of birth defects ect. like i said you fools have no clue as to what will really happen if anyone uses a nuke. i only pray that my family dies quick and is not here for the terrible suffering that many will endure!!!!!!!GOD HELP US ALL!!

It's the understatement of the year to say that there are innocent people out there who would be killed, seriously harmed, etc. but that "we need to think about our country and our children's safety..." So you would advocate nuking millions of people on the outside chance that one of these countries would nuke us first? So what proof do you have that any of these countries wants to nuke us? Please don't say you got it from the media, because there are extremely divided opinions in the press.

There are other motives these countries (well, not Iraq, because it's been proven it hasn't had WMDs for at least 10 years) would have nuclear weapons other than to bomb the U.S. Bombing the U.S. would probably be the last thing on their minds.

Also, which country in the world do you think the world fears most? The U.S. by far! How can I say that? What is the only country to ever drop a nuclear bomb? What other country, besides the U.S. has repeatedly tested nuclear weapons, even after threatening other countries' development of these weapons? Which country spends an amount on their military equal to all other countries combined? What (powerful) country has shown that it is willing to take a pre-emptive strike against a country? The answer to all those questions is the U.S.
