As long as the animals are cared for properly and you can afford to keep them, there is no limit. I love animals too, and have had 1 horse, 4 cats, 2 gerbils and 2 fish at one time. Now I just have a hamster due to the tiny space I have to live in at the moment.

That's all personal preferance. If you feel you take good care of your animals, and that they all recieve adequite attention and love from you - well then, I think you're ok. The only one I'd really worry about is the dog. Cats are good - they aren't overly needy and you can give them some love at the end of the day, while you're studying or whatever...guinea pigs, mice & fish are really just pets to "look at" and don't form a bond as would a cat or dog (and all you rodent fanatics - don't bash me on this...I'm sure there are several of you out there with exceptional pets, that with overly doting owners can develop that type of bond but I am speaking in generalities)...as for rabbits, well...I personally don't think they are ideal pets for a variety of reasons, unless you live on a farm and they can have a little outdoor "paddock" of some sort, to me it's like keeping a racoon or squirrel, but that's just my opinion.
I have 3 cats, 3 dogs, 3 horses, tons of fish, 2 hermit crabs and a few lizzards - I don't work and it's a lot to take care of - but then again, most of my animals are high maintenance. So you just really need to think hard about if you're being fair to your animals and giving them the attention they need. You must be thiniking about that already if you're posting the question here.
good luck

That alot of animals for someone who works full time but if they are feed and healthy then it's fine to have 14. I have 3 cats, 2 bunnies, 2 guinea pigs, 1 hamster, 1 frog, 1 turtle and 2 tanks full of fish.

1 hamster. Maybe a goldfish at a push. I just couldn't have pets that needed so much care. Going on holiday must be a nightmare for you! I am not saying you shouldn't have pets as we are all different and really I would love a dog, but I just couldn't have a pet that would be difficult for others to look to for me. I have enough to do looking after 3 children and the house!

I only have a dog and cat. I would absolutley LOVE to have a rabbit and a guinea pig. My top number of pets would have to be 5. That's all i would be able to handle. But if you can handle 14, then you go!

I got 3 cats, 2 dogs, 5 horses, 2 fish, several spiders that I haven't been able to kill yet, no mice, the cats take care of them, and 5 barn cats that wander by occasionally.

I would say once you leave home you will need to re-think your situation with your pets!
Working full time would leave your pets home alone for possibly 10-12 hours or more, that would be cruelty! Currently with you living at home still i would hope one or both of your parents are there during the day to give these animals attention!
I love dogs and would love to go get one from a rescue shelter but it would not be fair on the animal while i was out at work.
You might love your animals but you need to think of their well-being when you are not there for them.
Love them and enjoy them while your still at home.
P.S - give your dog a treat from me ;) LOL

Up to a large one bedroom apartment I would say zero. Too many accidents, if the pet has his own the smell may never leave. I would think maximum for a normal house would be 3 leaning towards two.

As many as you can handle and as long as they dont stink up your parents house. but 14 is so many. i have a hard time keeping up with one dog and a 2 year old kid. But as long as you can afford to feed them all and take them to the vet when they are sick then its ok. i was raised around a bunch of animals. Like right now my mom has 4 horses,2 cats, 2 dogs, a bird, and some chickens. i just dont recommend chickens. they always tried to peck my feet and legs.
