The garden Mole! Has anyone any suggestions as to how we remove this canny intruder from the garden?

The elusive garden mole.

Flooding, traps and windmills,this mole is a pro. Just stepped over, under and around them no problem. Is it true cats have a keen eye for mollie?

do you like juicy fruit gum? Moles don't ! I think it works best when it has been chewed a little to get the smell going real good. Drop it in the mole holes. Try it.

Moles main diet is worms! So it could be that if your lawn or borders contain a good supply of worms then that's why you have moles.

You could try blocking up the runs with slate and rocks. May be you could try & trap the mole and once caught release it as far away from your house as possibly. Another solution is a fox !!
a moles worst nightmare, I think you can purchase a powder form substance that smells of foxes, it is safe for Mr badger & other wild life it just releases an odour to scare them off!!

I bought the long metal rods with which you put into the ground and they make a noise every 30 seconds. The noise is to "bother" the moles. I have found this works the best. I have tried just about every other "trick", but I will swear by this. I bought them at local hardware stores for about $20 each. I invested in 4 and put them in various spots around my house this past spring. I have yet to see a mole trail since. Good Luck!

Easiest and cheapest way is a mouse trap baited with peanut butter. That way you can get a body count too, to see if you are being effective. I caught 9 in a big flower bed in 2 days.

If you want to spend $20 the vibrating thing Lady Bug talked about really does work. They make plastic ones and aluminum ones. The Al seems to work best.

a cat that's a good hunter. my family just got a new cat and have had her for about a year. over this past summer whenever she went outside she'd go in the garden to hunt, and has so far caught four moles, and now that there is a scent of cat (hair) in the garden and they are afraid of this new predator we no longer have a mole problem

I tried moth balls, smoke bombs,mouse traps (got lucky,caught one) castor beans etc. The only one that worked for me was the "whirly-gig".That is the name I know them by.Kids get them for Spring,they are on a stick and when the wind blows the top part goes around. Put the stick part in the ground and when the wind blows it causes vibrations in the ground. Moles do not like the noise and will move out .It works.
