They will flare at my brother's betta and my brother's betta flares at them. But they don't ever flare at each other! Why is this? It's like they're gaining up against my brother's betta but they have a love for each other. Do they understand they are brothers? Why do they do this? It's like this:

M1= Mine1#
M2= Mine 2#
B= Brother's betta
()= Flare
NF= No flare
M1()B
M2()B
B()M1
B()M2
M1(NF)M2

Aorry if that was confusing. You can just follow the words. But WHY WHY WHY do they do this????

It depends on their location in comarison to each other. the tanks/bowls may be placed in such a way that M1 and M2 cannot see each other but B can see both and M1 and M2 can see B. M1 & M2 not seeing each other could be caused by the refraction of the bowl/tank or water between M1 & M2. If M1 M2 and B could all see each other they all would flare at each other. It's nature's way.

If they are both males they should flare, because it's in their nature. Are you absolutely sure that they are males?!

bettas are competitive fish.. they'll flare at the same sex.. if your two are opposite sex then that's why they don't flare at each other
