If they're "coachable". IE: Do they think they know everything or are they willing to break down what they do and try something different even if it sets them back a couple weeks. I will take someone with less natural talent if they're coachable than someone with all the talent in the world that isn't. That's always what I look for first.

A coach should be a mentor, and a guide, there in times of trouble, and keep out of the way in good times.

There is no perfect batting technique, people say you have to do this and do that, but its not true. Do you know who had an unusual technique and style? Sir Donald Bradman.

Coaching is about getting the most out of a player given the set of skills they have, and try to grow that set.

The best quality in a young athlete is enjoyment of the game. You can get into the science and all that stuff later, i would want a young athlete who likes what they are doing, and willing to listen.
