I use Visio for any network designs I need to do. It's available form Microsoft.

Depends how large the LAN is going to be tho... visio is very good but expecive, a pain to learn and resoruce hog...
for a small network try... a peice of paper and a pen
for the fast on the fly job ya really cant beat it

ms visio ,server, u can do what ever u want with this ,but u must be havin g a very gud machine.
