not purple, but close...it was Maroon. "deep reddish purple". um this was back in the mid 90s too, so ppl weren't as cool about it as now.
that lasted about 4 months....then i dyed it again! lol, still do.
i say if you want to GO FOR IT!

The deeper or brighter you want your color, the more you're going to have to redo it. Almost none of the color dyes are permanent, so it keeps washing out and is more noticeable with a darker color. Just be prepared to do lots of maintenance!

Yes I have. It was so dark that in normal lighting it looks black but in lighted areas or outside it was purple. It was pretty too.

I did that colour when I was younger,and it came out deep blue!! I still loved it.

i did that once, and it turned out awesome... i suggest that you go to a professional though, they'll add separate tints if you want them to (i had slight red tints put in). it's worth the money... trust me.
