Because, 13 is just a standard age. Meaning you may still be thir-TEEN, but that doesn't exactly make you on the fences of being a mature teenager. You're practically still a baby who shouldn't be dating guys that are 17 yrs. old. He'll be graduating from high school and an adult and you're still in your pre-teen stages. I've been there and done that when I was younger and from experience, most want to get with the younger girls, because they're horny and want sex. Think for a minute on why can't he find someone his own age? Why in the world is he with someone that could be his little sister? Does he sit and have deep conversations with you? I would guess probably not....so what other reasons does he want to be with you? If he says because he loves you, well, than he's sick and needs some type of help. I know it's weird, you're 13 and he's 17 that's about 4-5 yr. gap, what's the big deal? Well, it just is. Especially being young and dating someone of his age, and he wanting sex, and if you're gullible enough you'll sleep with him, get pregnant and that's the end. Plus, when he's 18, he can get into major trouble for dating a minor, and we call that statutory rape. No one is being biased, but it's just more normal when you're 22 to date someone 26. The numbers speak for themselves.

'Cause you two are almost 5 years apart, and on different brain patterns. It's ok at age 33 and 37, where the two people are on basically the same thinking pattern. But at age 13 to 17, the two of you have different things on your mind. He'll be preparing for college, and you'll be preparing for high school. That kid should be so embarrased that he can't get with a girl his own age. You probably think it's cool. How would you feel about a 13 year old boy dating an 8 year old chick? Well... I can garantee most 17 year old kids are thinking the same kind of thoughts about your 17 year old boyfriend.

"why do people think?"
becuase they can. they are human.
"why do people think that me almost 13...and my bf almost 17 shouldnt go out?"
because of the age difference. 4 years isn't as much as ten years but 4 years is alot when you're a minor and a child. That's why. You're 12 and he's 16. When I was 12, I didn't DATE, period. I played with dolls and considered boys to have cooties!

I read your first question, and I didn't answer it,as I really didn't want to hurt your feelings.I myself think you are too young for a boyfriend let alone a 17 year old boyfriend.I have a 13 year old daughter, and there is no way I would let her date a 17 year old.My daughter is a very mature 13 year old,but 17 is still too young,at the age,yes you might have interests in common, but you are still on 2 totally different wave lengths.I am sorry if I have upset you,but you seemed to really what to know what people thought.

It's a little different if you were in your late teens and he is in his early twenties. You're 12, and most 12 year olds shouldn't be getting involved in more mature relationships of which they are not emotionally or physically ready for.
I consider this pretty creepy that your b/f would consider this OK. Even if you're more developed at 12, you still are a girl (not yet a woman according to Britney ;-)
I would slow it down and definately try to stay in your own age group or just have fun with your friends and not even worry about boyfriends and all that until you're more ready. It's better to play it safe and live and have some fun before making more mature decisions right now.

Because, why you are probably a mature young lady, you are both DEFINITELY at different ends of the spectrum when it comes to what is healthy for you and what you really need and want. He's 17 and is (and don't let him lie) interested in sex, and he shouldn't be interested in that kind of thing with a 13 year old. And you should be able to be your age. There is nothing wrong with it. Everyone thinks its soo cool to rush into these things....but it isn't. You need to take the time to be who you are, and not who you think you should be.

you don't realize it now, but you will grow up a lot in that 4 years between 13 and 17. You two are just at different points in your lives. Also, when he turns 18 it will be against the law for you two to be dating anyway.

The age difference for one thing and then the fact that this boy is way more mature than you are. I would NEVER let my 13 y/o daughter go out with a 17 y/o just for her own safety!!!!!

because that is sick. in one year he will be 18, be out of high school, and on his own. he'll be an adult......and you will be finally a teenager. obviously something is wrong with him if he wants to go out with a child. no offense to you or anything. i wouldn't even go out with a 17 year old and i'll be 15 in a month. 17 year old guys are way too horny for seventh graders.
