Thought you could stump us with a bogus series did you?
Well I have found a pattern you may not have thought of.

25,87,21,64,43,49,61---the next number in the series is:

145!!
Here's how I arrived at this answer.
Rewrite the series where each digit represents the corresponding letter of the alphabet.
Then the series is:
Be, Hg, Ba, Fd, Dc, Di, Fa

Clearly, the first three terms are abbreviations for the elements
Beryllium, Mercury, and Barium. The next F is for fluorine,(save the d and the D) , cD is for cadmium, i is for iodine,
F for fluorine (save the a) . All that is left is d,d,and a.
Read that backwards and it spells add. By our letter/number correspondence d=4 and a=1. If we add d d and a we get 4+4+2=10 . Element #10 is neon, Ne.
Putting neon in number form we have n=14, e=5,
hence the next number in the series is 145.

And that is my final answer!

Nope, I think you made it up just to drive us crazy.

I imagine the inclusion of several numbers which have perfect square roots may be significant (25, 64, 49); there are also two prime numbers (43, 61); and the other two are multiples of 3 (87, 21). Other than these, I see no pattern.
