Does anyone know how to get rid of the pop noise from a digitalized LP track with the software Audacity?

I've been trying for hours, nothing doing. Even the pop and click removal won't work. Am I doing something wrong?

It can be difficult to do, it sometimes removes too much of the content. Once I ended up with no drums or vocals and just the guitar and bass.

What I do is find the offending click, zoom in on the section till I get to the line segments with square blocks. Then I select the pencil from the toolbox and reduce the amplitude of the noise spike.
