At some stores with photo centers, they will create a Web site for your photos, then you can send the link to friends and family. Don't know if these sites are password protected, though. I believe Walgreens has this service - I do know digital photos taken to a Walgreens can be printed at any other Walgreens location with a photo center.
Also, as for favorites, use an online service. There are many free services that allow you to file your favorites at an on-line site.
