Most of the time overdrive works the same as drive. I usually shift to normal drive gear for getting up to speed off an onramp. Overdrive can help save gas at cruising speeds. I usually leave the car in overdrive for everything except hard acceleration. I would not have the vehicle in overdrive going up a steep incline or towing, as another poster mentioned.

Leave it in overdrive for best gas mileage. If towing drive wiyhout overdrive. When in overdrive your engine runs at a lower RPM so you use less gas. Don'y worry, your transmission will automaticly kick out of overdrive when driveing normal. Enjoy.

Drive with overdrive in the "ON" postition for normal driving. When you are on hills or mountainy roads then switch it to the "OFF" position. Overdrive allows the car to shift into 4th gear, when you are in the hills you need it to stay in 3rd gear for better power and traction.

Unless you have excessive shifting between overdrive and drive, like under 35 in town, perhaps on hills, use overdrive.

Yep, in basic terms bypass away it in OverDrive. The O/D won't kick in til greater speeds to maintain gasoline and the workstation does that rapidly. you will not observe the adaptation. you will purely choose to shift topersistent if towing a trailer or utilising in winding hills, etc., that's, severe utilising circumstances. Leave the overdrive on to save gas. Turn it off for steep inclines or passing.

The overdrive function is there to reduce your revs and thus your fuel consumption when going on freeway type journeys. You should notice your revs coming down when in 4th or 5th on a stck job or when in top in an auto.

When you are on the interstate your overdrive should be on. When you are on a road that the speed limit is 45 mph or less or is very "hilly" it should be off.
