It doesn't matter for getting into a good college directly but it will affect getting into AP classes and taking those will matter. It'll also be hard to get good grades in 9th, 10th and 11th if you fall behind now.

Yes, they do matter because they help determine where you will be placed in your freshman year. This can ultimately affect which courses you will have to take. Example, If you do bad in 8th grade science, you may have to start in an into science rather than biology. Then that delays when you can take physics, chemistry. So yes get the best grades possible, so that you can start off on the right foot in high school.

Every grade matters for College as the 1st grade prepair s you for the 2nd grade, and the 4th grade prepairs you for the 5th grade, and the 8th grade prepairs you for the ninth and high school. What grades you take in the nithgrade (on your way to college) will depend on how good your grade were in the 8th grade. YOu could miss out on important classes like algebra, physics, higher science, ect. i gou don' have the grades and training neccessary to take those grades.
YOU could end up taking classes in the 10th, or 11th or even the 12 yu shoud have taken in the 9th just ot graduate.
Beleive me if yu make the minuim effort the school will make the minium effort in their par and eventually graduate you without an education or tciket to college.

YES.

Very often what you do in 8th Grade will dictate what you are allowed to do staring in 9th. And if you are not in the right classes or get the right grades in 8th you can be shut out of certain things in 9th.

My son ran into a situation where because of certain issues in 5th grade he did not get into advanced math in 6th in middle school. No advanced math in 6 then you can't get it in 7th, not in 7th you can't get it in 8th and none in 8th and your shut out of certain advanced programs in 9th grade.

IT ALL MATTERS.

At the same time, you can recover, it's just that college will be harder and getting the school you want and the programs you want will be harder as well.

8th grade matters because it determines what electives you take in high school. If you do poorly in math or English, you have to take math support or reading support classes instead of the ones you need. You also can't get into the Honors or Advanced Placement classes, if that's what you want.

colleges look at grade 9 and later, but they pay more attention to your junior and senior year. also they look at SATs and other things so dont' get nervous.

Unless you're trying to get into a top 30 college (i.e. Harvard, Princeton, etc.) where you have to have great grades from day 1, most colleges will except ya, especially if your from out of state.

Yes. XD You *don't* want to fall behind just because you slacked off a year. That's also like.. senior year for junior high? So at your graduation ceremony, getting lots of awards would be good for your future portfolios & stuff. But then it also depends on what college is *good* enough for you.

Der... of course it does. If you get a good education inyour younger years than that will show on you records AND show how dedicated you are. Plus the more education you get and understand the more you will learn and right there you have you gateway into a good collage and an easier time too.

It usually depends on where you are located. Some states require a high average from 7th grade and up, others disregard Middle School entirely. I would ask your School's counseler what your state requires.
