4 artifacts (material products of a culture) that originated in NON-European cultures and are used widely?

Question

Today in the United States.
(European cultures would include European settlers in the US as well as indigenous Europeans).

I need information so that I can discuss the artifacts history and how they came to the U.S. I don't need you to the history part for me, just some suggestions of the artifacts so I can research them myself.

Pizza and pasta are both Chinese in origin--we use lots of pizza in the US today, but that's probably not what you meant by artifact is it? :P
Black powder is another Chinese invention--makes guns go boom and puts cool lights in the sky every 4th of July.
