I use the wireless G adapter and I followed the manuel step by step. It says to first install the wireless cd then install after that it said to insert the wireless card after shutting down the computer and then to restart and from there on i should have gotten a message saying that the wireless card is installed or new hardware is found . But when i kept doing that it still didn't connect. So if anyone might know of a solution please let me know thanks

Well, check the troubleshooting guide and see where you need to do changes or redo the procedure.

Few of the suggestions I will make is:

- Close, the wireless card software that you installed from the CD
and try and identify the wifi network.

- See if you are within 10m from your router / wifi access point.

- See if your wifi access point / router is in the same channel as
your wireless G card. Normally by default its "channel 11" in new Netgear routers and adapters its "channel 6" - so if you are using two different makes - there might a possiblity it being in different range signal.

- If you are having the previous hardware problem, check if the computer recognises the hardware - and if not - and if its a USB dongle check your USB card and if it is PCI card then check it is properly pushed in the adapter.

Try these - and tell me if it works.

Is the adapter that you installed on the HCL? Go to start, control panel, select system, and then hardware and then device manager.. do you see anything that indicates that you have a wireless card under network adapters... and if so does it have a red X through it.. or how is it showing? you may not have seated it properly, try re seating it..

Make sure that its not disabled in device manager, Right click all the network icons and make sure they are enabled. They are in network settings. After you install the drivers and the card then go to device manager and right click the top icon and scan for hardware changes.

First, goto the Control Panel, then goto Network Connections.... check to see if your new card is listed there. If it's not, goto the Device Manager (in control panel) and then check if its listed there with a yellow exclamation mark... If it is, then you might have to reinstall the drivers.
