I posed some questions about unions today and I'd like you to see what our union hating reps said about you:

If the minimum wage is $5, then the maximum union wage would be fair at about $9.

The three values of unions are:
1 greed
2 sloth
3 apathy

And some from liberals:

If not for Unions, you might be working 15 hour shifts six days a week, everyone in your family works the same including your 12 year old kid, you have to buy food from the company store which is so expensive your paychecks can barely cover them, if you get sick or injured you get fired and arrested. Living and working conditions are unsafe, education is almost non-existent, and oh yeah - birth control wouldn't exist.

Same thing is happening in China today. Enjoy your happy meal.

Employer greed is at an all time high,CEO - pay on average in America is 500 times the average workers wage. No other industrial nation is this out of whack

Ready to live on $9/hr? Not me.

Conservative love cheap labor, and union labor doesn't fit that mold. They have managed to turn the country against the lowly union man by pointing the finger at him as the cause of America's inability to compete internationally.
The rich get rich off the back's of cheap labor. And, Americans insist on a fair wage for a good job. What a sin, huh?

A poll can show any effect in accordance to how the questions are phased. everybody can take a citation out of content fabric and attempt to make you suspect that it truly is the way this guy or woman feels. Do i've got self belief that republicans attempt to break the middle classification. No. i've got self belief that the republicans attempt to get extra decrease earnings human beings into the middle classification by insisting that as a fashion to get welfare, and so forth a guy or woman could the two pass to college or take a job. i've got self belief that the republicans share my have self belief that we could constantly provide A HAND UP no longer A HAND OUT. The democrats have self belief that welfare is an entitlement, no longer a privelege and that in case you pass on welfare, you may no longer could attempt to get off it. i've got self belief that it truly is incorrect, it destroys the "soul" of the receipient and makes the working classification offended and function comtemp for the guy who needs help

1.Repubs don't hate working class,
2.What does birth control have to do with no unions?
3.I agree with you that employers are greedy and not enough money filters down to the masses, but that is going to happen no matter if Dem or Repub.
4. Unions are notoriously corrupt. You pay annual 'dues' which line the leaderships pockets. And if you disagree with them, too bad.

Not ALL unions are bad, but there are so many that are that it is a gamble.

So I suppose this is all the Repubs fault? Is that what you are trying to say?

Because republicans are republicans. They love the wealthy and everyone else can go to hell. The American middle class is shrinking rapidly because of the republicans war on unions and the middle and working class. I know a lot of people here in Ohio that have always voted republican but aren't going to this time. Their jobs have been shipped off the China and India and they are having a tough time making ends meet on $7-$9 an hour, while bush and company keep saying the economy is going great.

Around 1960, the Democratic Party was taken over by rich snobs and their college-educated flunkies, who have had nothing but condescending contempt for the working class. So let these types join the Republicans.

College education is living off Mommy and Daddy until you're 22 so that you never grow up. Graduates have no right to their jobs if education is restricted to freaks willing to put up with unpaid education, and of course, to rich kids living off an allowance who for that reason don't have to put up with the childish, insulting, and self-destructive fraud that this education amounts to despite all the propaganda. So they have no right to look down upon working-class people who had too much self-respect to brown-nose their way into jobs that the yuppies have stolen from people with talent.

I agree with Will above.

Unions had the relevance and value years ago. In their heyday, they did serve a purpose since workers were treated like dirt. In some places, they are still needed (e.g. where employees are being mistreated).

But many unions are huge bureacracies (e.g. UAW, Teamsters) and many have gone too far. Consequently, many US firms are no longer competitive and are being crushed by long term liabilities brought on by unions and their own incompetance (the coroprations incompetance).

I have never worked in Union job by have family that has.

Republicans hate the working class? A lot of Republicans are working class. At one time, unions had their place and they did a good thing. But, like all bureaucracies and centers of power, they became corrupt. And, like all liberal bureaucracies, they became all about looking out for the organization rather than the individual.

[edit, s.k] True, they would spend more, but only because they have to - things they buy will cost more (unless the manufacturing has been moved overseas to sweat shops)

I think for a lot of Republicans--the blue collar ones, anyway--it's a "sour grapes" thing.

They can't (or won't) meet the standards &/or complete the skill training required to join a union.

Re-pubes are outrageously greedy. So, get people educated on the issues, and registered to vote for a change. If not, in our system, they deserve what they get.
