I had my last period on the 20/09/2006 and I stopped taking the pill (YASMIN) on the 06/10/2006. I don't know what my luteal phase is but been told I should set it to 14. I had spotting yesterday, but only very slight (a couple of spots). But really I want to know what are my chances in getting pregnant?. Does it take some time after taking the pill or in some chances can it happen straight away?. Me and my boyfriend had sexual intercourse on friday the 10th when I stopped taking my pill, then saturday (twice), sunday (once), monday (once). Should we be having more sex to try and increase the chances or is once a day trying to have a baby enough?. I am 24 years old and me and my boyfriend have been going out for 4 years. Do you think my chances are higher because of my age?. I was on the pill for about 3.75 years and have been told it can take some time. I really want to fall pregnant before christmas. Is it likely to fall pregnant. On a normal cycle I have 12 days till my period!

......... go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler
This book will help you with all of your menstrual and conception questions. It’s for all women - not just women trying to conceive. It covers everything from temperature to mucus checking, etc.. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! It tells you how to figure out your cycle and what to expect. My husband and I tried for a year to conceive and nothing happened. The first month I used the book we conceived right away. Now I am due Feb 2. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!

Usually women ovulate on the 14th day of their cycle. Count from the first day of your period, and on the 14th day is usually the best day to conceive. According to the date you gave, and days til your next period you should count 18 days, so Sept 27th was your best chance. If you aren't pregnant this month, next try you shouldn't have intercourse the few days before because it lowers sperm count, and then only do it once a day for a while to get the most "bang for your buck." (not proven, but it has worked for us twice.) If my counting is right, and you start your period on the 21st, the 7th of Nov. is your big day, and the 36 hours after. If I were you, and was seriously trying to get pregnant before Christmas, I would invest in an ovulation test. Oh- and about the pill- I've heard 3 months is plenty of time to get it out of your system, so maybe by December...
Oh, and a friendly word of advice, tell your boyfriend that since you are willing to bear his child, he ought to be willing to promise you, with the world as a witness, that he will always be there for you and that child. Get a wedding out of that man! Your family will be the better for it. ;-)

In actuality, women who have taken the pill and stopped tend to have a higher conception rate.. So don't fret.. Yes, you can still get pregnant..Oh, and try not having sex unless you're ovulating since it increases your chance of conceiving.. Buy one of those ovulation machines so you can detect your most fertile day.. I mean I know it's once a month.. but it does increase your chances. Good luck!
