Perhaps you could try the approach of telling him that another type would be more appealing and sexy to you, more of a turn on, instead of telling him in a negative way that you don't like the tighty whities. I think men need to be mentally uplifted, just as we do.

Buy him new ones and tell him how sexy he looks in them. Really go wow in those underwears you really are getting me turned on. Most guys love that sort of thing. Little by little start throwing those tighty whities away.

Purchase some other types of underwear and put the tighty whites in the "laundry" and tell him so...get some of the boxer briefs...they are comfortable - at least that 's what my boyfriend likes...

I'm really appalled at some of the answers you've been getting. If he is more comfortable wearing white jockey shorts, why force him to change? Why not let him stay with his own choice of underpants?
He's the one wearing them. Most likely, he is the only one who sees them, except for you for a few minutes a day.
If you would like him to wear something different to bed with you, put it in that context - "Wear what you like to work, but when you come to bed, I'd feel sexier if you wear these silk boxers I bought for you". Even then, remember how you'd feel if he started dictating what you wore under your clothes.

Wash all his tighty whities with something red and make them pink.

don't manipulate your husband by telling him he looks hot in briefs (it may be true, but he'll feel like he's being manipulated and will not want to comply).
Tell him that for your b-day present this year, you want him to wear boxers for a month. After a month, ask if he would continue to wear them - remember, it's his choice and trying to force him (or manipulate him) to do this will make him uncomfortable.

Throw then all away when he is at work and replace them with boxer briefs.

Put away all of the underwear he likes, and replace them with the underwear you like. Think of his comfort first, then style. If he really doesn't want to change, give him his original underwear back and just grin and bear it.

just buy him a few pairs of boxers and have him model them for you, make a big fuss over him when he puts them on, tell him how good they look and act like you can't keep your hands off of him, I bet he'll be a boxer man for sure then.
