I'm black and I don't even know the answer to that question. Personally I think any parent who gives their child a name like that is a dumbass.

Odd Black Names

It's all a cultural thing. I know a girl named Zaza. Sounds like a weird black name but actually she's from England and british full blood all the way. Not only that but she's a white british girl. it's all part of culture. White girls are named Sara but that not a hite girl name it's a hebrew name. It's just because we gave it that name a white or black kid name that we call it that. Thats the only reason.

Well i am black and my family has a lot of unique names and few of them have real simple names....I asked my aunt why some people do it and she said some people just try to put as many sounds as they can in one name and some people do it so their child would be unique and different from everone else

You are not "standing far enough back" from the phenomenom you are asking about to observe its true nature; different groups of people at different times go through periods of "fashion" in naming their offspring, and the names you are thinking of (I believe) were those given by black Americans to their kids in the late 1980s and 1990s, who, for some reason, couldn't see their kids growing up in a healthy mental state if they were all called "Todd" or "Jennifer". (And "Shaniqua is hardly 'odd', just an Americanization of the fairly common Spanish name 'Shanika').Prior to that it was very popular for black American parents to name their kids after former presidents.
Asian parents seem overly fond of calling sons "Kevin", and
White parents are apparently incapable of having more than one girl-child without using the name 'Ashley' for one of them!

Ironically, the only transvestite I actually know calls herself "Billyboy"....go figure!

The next time you encounter this situation, just ask the parent why they chose that particular name for their child. However, remember that one person's opinion does not reflect the overall thinking and opinions of those who are also of the same race.

Black people sometimes try to show they have roots or something.
Usually kids named chaquita or whatever have never been to Africa, they are from Michigan.

Why are all of you calling this guy a racist?
Blacks make these jokes on television all of the time!!!!
