The republicans have done a good job making u believe this. Don't. Hold your ground, hold to your belief, speak your mind because it is your right as a citizen of the U.S. They want you to believe everything is OK, but you know the truth. They say to beat a liberal is to hit them with the facts. Do your homework so u can educate them. Ask them what mission are we trying to complete in Iraq, when the president has changed the mission many times. u will not get a good answer. U are patriotic because u excise your rights granted in the Constitution.

Ask how they are not parrots by calling you unpatriotic... Even though I lean a little to the right, I cant stand it when one American can call another American unpatriotic when they are expressing their views... telling some one their OPINION is wrong and should not be heard, is making light your freedom of speech in turn making them unpatriotic.

As for you problem, try not to word your opinions exactly the way you hear them and even combine your different opinions to create a new view or point.

I like the expression "Republican extremists".
Do you think you are under attack? Are gangs of Repubs riding around in Humvee's hunting down Dems with high-powered automatic weapons?
That makes absolutely no sense at all.

And they keep calling you a parrot because that is their way of insulting you by saying that you can only repeat what you are "taught" or "programmed" to say over and over again.

Simple enough solution to that is just ignore them, or stand up for yourself by pointing out their faults.

It is just politics, unfortunately.

Now, wouldn't you consider that to be a very parrot-ish behavior - them accusing you of parroting? Ask them where they got the term parroting from? Remind them that parrots are very smart animals - almost as smart as a developmentally disabled person. Tell them that parrots are often smuggled in tubes and that, sadly, they often die in transit. Take them to see the Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill. If they aren't convinced that parrots are colorful by then, I don't know what will!

It's just another tactic that people use. Accusing another person of being a parrot is a way of accusing a person of not thinking for themselves. People use these kind of personal attack tactics when they are unable to truly defend what they support generally.
And yes, republicans are being very hypocritcal when they accuse you of this. Most of them are just a parrot of hate radio. They listen to Rush and parrot his hate but can't actually hold an intelligent debate. You hear, "Liberal this, liberal that" out of their mouths constantly. Much like you would hear, "Jews this, Jews that" out of a nazi.

Republicans are republicans and can't help themselves. Ignore them and they'll go away starting with the elections in November. Also remember that they are elephants. You know, you see them at the circus with each one wrapping their trunks around the tail and in the butthole of the one in front of them with no real idea where they are heading. It's better to be a parrot then a Republican elephant.

I can't stand extremists on either side!
