Depends on what you're looking for... You'll have to research it yourself really...

Check out the prices at CompUSA especially today.. for the holiday.. prices are below $500, just make sure whatever you get is Vista ready... if you plan on the latest and greatest new operating system... and the preference is up to you as to what type you want... Intel, AMD are more expensive than Celeron or the processors that have been made to keep the cost down.. I have an HP that I love... my daughter bought the next step up and has replaced hers already with a Dell.. what can I say..Your choice... check the stats out at Cnet.. where you can see the comparisons.. http://reviews.search.com/search?q=Notebook&part=google-cnet

HP Pavillion.

Be careful what you mean by reasonable price. Most laptops come with the crap version of Windows and no Microsoft Office. If you want Microsoft XP and Office...you can add another $300.

If you want to compare prices and see reviews, go to CNet.com.

it really depends on the specifications that you require. memory, graphics cards, etc.
the most basic one can be just what you need and it would be around £300. one with a great graphics card, loads of ram etc could be over £2000. i do recommend getting a good brand name. you really do get what you pay for.
consider what you need the laptop for and then look around for your exact requirements. dell usually have really good deals and will add and subtract things to suit your exact needs. just make sure whatever you get, you get a good warantee. 2 or 3 years onsite is probably the best.

This is by far the best laptop you can get for the cheapest price.

They just went on sale and I bought mine yesterday. Call your local best buy because they are selling out fast. BTW avoid laptops with Intel Celeron processors, they are painfully slow.

Dell sucks - they overheat and they crash. There is a reason why they are cheap. Get an IBM think pad. You won't be sorry.
