I work at Mervyns (whic is closing all their Washington state locations come early next year) amd do logistics and odd type jobs, basically from the registers o the trash.

I have only worked there for like 3 weeks, and have made freinds with some people, but I found a better job as a department head of furniture at cost plus. It dosen't pay a whole lot more, but it is certainly in my interest area.

Should I feel guilty about being trained and meeting new people to leave?

If it's in your interest area and a little better pay...then why feel guilty? There's nothing to feel guilty about if you're looking for something that's more of what you're interested in. Okay so you've made friends... you'll make new ones and perhaps keep in touch w/ the ones you've already made during this job. Unfortunately... unless you've already been offered this better paying job... the fact you've worked only 3 weeks at your present job will make you look like a job hopper...so do be sure that you'll get this new job before putting in your notice....and it's best if you let the new job understand that you need to put in a 2 weeks notice before you can start working.. It will look better for you in the long run.
Good luck

Yes of course you can leave! You will be happier because you will be working in a field you want to be in! I think you will be surprised in the difference in pay. You will be making 76 dollars more per two week period(80 hours) which is 1976.00 a year more. I figured all of this before taxes. And hopefully you wont be making 9.00 an hour forever! I hope they will give you raises! Please dont feel guilty about leaving either! You did say they are closing the store where you are working...leaving would be job security!

To be honest with you...I would stay at your current job given that they've employed you for quite some time now and therefore would most likely retain you as an employee for more time to come. If you go to this new location, you would run the risk of being let go or worse be fired for not performing your job well.

My advice, and again just my opinion, you should remain @ where you work right now and go to some occupational school, community college, or something to help you obtain the skills you need to get another job or start your career.

SHOULD YOU FEEL GUILTy...no but again weigh your options

Quit Mervyns fast! The holiday season is fast approaching, and the workload will be overwhelming. I've known people who worked at Mervyns during the Christmas season who had to stay till 1 or 2am just cleaning up the mess made by shoppers earlier in the day!

Get off that sinking ship while you still can!!!

Mervyns has had it rough over the recent years. If the company is going to survive, there are going to be more cuts to come.

Good luck in your new job, and don't feel guilty =0p...

Ask Human Resources if the company has any placement plans, compensation, or any sort of assistance for it's soon to be ex-employees.

Oh, go ahead and make the change. Feel guilty for a day or two, because they did invest in you, but in retail, they have a lot of turnover. So, you are not doing something to them that will be a big shock. Be honest and tell them that you have found something that you prefer to do and pays better and you appreciate all they did for you.

No you shouldn't feel guility especially since it is in your area of intrest and you also get paid more. Another way to look at it is that not many people stay at the same job for long and if you don't take the job someone else will from a different job.

Certainly do not feel guilty. Business is always calling for a free market. I am all for that too, but the only way it works for workers is if they are very willing to change jobs.

They would not feel guilty if they closed the store you worked at because it wasn't profitable.

confident, I felt very accountable and had given 4 and 0.5 months word! in the time of that word time I had to many times state i became leaving as one guilt holiday after yet another became laid at my ft. Their urgency on the top of my word time extra beneficial via adverse foresight on administration's area and a huge organization that buys entities with the reason of springing up the numbers look solid on paper interior the fast term purely as a manner to resell it to the subsequent organization. The enterprise (group of hospitals) became actually being decreased to a shambles to have great financial numbers. Unethical to sufferers and solid-hearted experienced workers. no longer uncomplicated accountable the managerial human beings unwilling to assert "it incredibly is fairly not working, it incredibly is going to tension all our workers away" because of the fact they might have merely misplaced their jobs for talking.. At one factor an advantage supply became made if i might stay yet "will no longer be able to place it in writing"..or criminal branch might nix it. this occasion became on no account on an analogous scale, yet jogs my memory of Hitler's officers being too afraid to tell him the certainty (thank goodness) earlier they have been ultimately defeated. What i'm getting at, is that there is a huge photograph right here somewhat some the time and you're purely a cog and that they'll say something to maintain the gadget chugging alongside. in case you artwork for a small corporation then i think of it incredibly is somewhat diverse and lots forward word may be warranted if that they had taken care of you overall incredibly and you have complicated skills to replace on short word. you may nevertheless ultimately end even nonetheless if that's what's ultimately right for you.

The only reason we work is for the money, quit your 8.05 paying job for a raise and do not feel guilty about it
