Keep your shoulders back and your head facing forward.

You shouldn't be crunching your shoulders inward to do your tuck. Your upper body should remain straight with your head slightly tucked and your knees should be making your body a ball. Jump up - straight upward, pull arms straight down, and tuck knees to rotate through your hips. Don't be so rigid as to throw your shoulders backwards and travel through your tuck, though.

It also sounds like you need to open up a little sooner.

im assuming its a back handspring with a tucked back flip? if so, when you tuck, quickly pull your legs to your chest, not curl up. hold it till you see the ground in front of your face, ease the tuck, but hold it then do not just extend.instead as your finishing your flip, pike and straighten the top half of your body as your cancelling(it doesnt cancel the spin, but move your upper body closer to its balance point.) your spin. it takes practice, and the first time i did it close to right, i ended up on my behind instead of feat and bent double over.
