Chemistry is a branch of physics dealing with electrons in atomic bonding, so definitely physics.
As one famous scientist once remarked, "all you need to understand everything ouside of an atomic nucleus is gravity and quantum electro-dynamics".

One cannot decide which is better. These two sciences often work hand in hand.
Nevertheless physics have brought greater changes in our world than chemistry. I would prefer passing my time working physics than working chemistry. It is based on more mathematical bases, is more logical.
Note however that chemistry has done much more for humanity (what would medicine be without chemistry?). The greatest changes in medicine have been accomplished by a chemist: Louis Pasteur.
But again, one cannot decide.

For my part, I prefer physics if I need a passtime

Chemistry is harder. It requires a decent understanding of physics before you can really understand the chemical stuff. And physics is really much easier if you understand calculus. Sciences build on each other. (Biology can't be understood without chemistry or physics). If you're looking for a major, do chem, and minor in physics, cause chemistry majors require a lot physics!

Well. i would definately say Chemistry.. but i am biased.. i majored in Chemical Synthesis.. but i also majored in Pharmacology and they are both similar... understanding one helps understand the other...

i personally like chemistry because you are dealing with real things that are physically in front of you... and who doesnt like the potential that if you f*** up things can go boom!!!

I take them both and I'd have to say I enjoy physics more but It depende what you like and what you want to know. Chemistry tends to get a bit boring.

They overlap in physical chemistry, and one works with the other. Even.
