I think its wrong. Why?
Because you are killing an innocent child who did nothing wrong, and for what? The mother's mistake and irresponsibility.
"But what if the mother/father cannot afford the child?" my answer to that is too bad! Its the parent's fault they were irresponsible and now they must take responsibility for what they have created. You cannot kill a child just because you cannot support it. Any child would rather have a bad life than no life at all, unless they're suicidal.
Some might argue: "but what if the mother got raped?" Well, then set it up for adoption or something. Don't kill it! I hate it when people try to justify KILLING an innocent child.
There is NO excuse for getting an abortion. There are NO reasons for killing an innocent child who has no choice in the matter. And yes, the mother has a choice, but so should the child who is about to die. A bad life is always better than no life.

I understand your opinion on the subject, and I respect it. I would, however, point out that its a very difficult opinion to support.
If innocent life is as valuable to you as you say, what about the innocent life you routinely have a hand in killing, every day?
If you're like an average American, you eat hamburger and hot dogs and other meat products. These of course come from the slaughter of innocents.
You might argue that human life is somehow more special, and more worthy of preserving. Yet, as many Americans who are 'anti-abortion', you probably support our President in his latest campaign of wars? Seems a bit hypocritical to me to expect that an unborn fetus has a different, more sacred, status than the innocents killed in non-defensive military conflict.
Perhaps your morality and your cause is just for yourself and for your family, but what gives you the right to impose your morality on others?
When you take on such an awesome responsibility and such a high moral ground that you impose it on others, you better have your own morality tightly buttoned up and clear of any and all potential conflicts. I've found those people to be quite rare indeed.

This is really a stupid question.
Not your opinion on the topic, mind you... everyone has their own beliefs.. but the QUESTION you originally posed and the way you addressed it.
Would you ask the same question of "the black community" or "the Hispanic community"?
There is no one official "GLBT position statement" on abortion. We aren't the NAACP or the APA or NOW. Even if there were some official group that all GLBT folks belonged to (hah!), you aren't going to find "the opinion of the GLBT community" by asking a few folks on Yahoo answers.
There will be as many varying opinions on this among the GLBT community as there are among the general population.
I know quite a few gay people and the only thing we all have in common is our sexual orientation. In the "gay community" in my city, there are people who are Republican, Democrat, atheist, pagan, Christian, Jewish, rich, poor, white, black, etc.
You can't label a certain group as having a certain opinion on a specific topic.
So, please don't take the answers you get as representative of the GLBT community.
Finally, I am pro-choice though I would personally never have an abortion again ( I did in high school)and would try and counsel a friend carefully against it. I am even more concerned with preventing unwanted pregnancy in the first place. My pro-choice status has nothing to do with my sexual orientation though.
Edited to add: my girlfriend was raped at age 15. She was out as a lesbian by age 13, and certainly had no desire to get pregnant! She was raped violently by a so-called "friend" who offered her a ride when he saw her walking.
She chose to continue the pregnancy and keep the baby. I think it was a very brave choice.... but who on earth should have the right to force her to make that choice? That's insane.

Well my opinion is only my opinion, just as your is yours. Your opinion does not represent the whole str8ght male population as well.
I'm pro choice, I'm a lesbian and I would like to know women have the right to choose. I think it is a delicate subject and if a women chooses to have an abortion it isn't an easy choice. Plus not to mention they will never escape the guilt they go through, or the choice they have to live with.. Sometimes it for the right reasons and sometimes its for poor reasons... You nor I are god and by the looks of all the children in foster care and are not adopted, and the children who are in homes that parents don't even want them... I think that choice is important..

I'm up for the right to decide. You can't decide over others peoples body. Sometimes it's a medical reason. what about a woman that if she doesn't get an abortion she will die and the child too. Would you let them die? Now a woman that's raped. Why won't you let her heal? You don't know the reasons why someone would decide that. I'm no saying that it's like birth control it's something you would have to think over and be mature to make such decision

I am for a woman's right to choose. I don't condone it as a alternative to birth control, however. but if a women is raped or a victim of incest, or the mother's or child's life is endangered by the pregnancy, then I think a woman should have the right to an abortion.

Rape victims:
Never wanted to have a child.
Never wanted to have sex with a guy who is probably some ugly drunk from God knows where.
Never wanted to go through the pain of childbirth for a child that belongs to a crazy, wierd rapist sicko.
Never planned to be a mother (sometimes).
Probably have a husband or boyfriend that they could have had sex with rather than some twisted, ugly, sick freak.
So, tell me again, why should someone who has been raped have a baby they REALLY didn't want?

Frankly, it's not for me to decide nor is it your place to do so either.
I am not going to sit here and attempt to rationalize or justfy any position on that subject to you. I am a male. I cannot get pregnant. I DO know that making abortion illegal will bring children into the world that have no place to go, it will increase "back alley" abortions and threaten the lives of the women who have them, it is removing the ability to choose for themselves what happens to their bodies, and finally until a fetus is able to live outside the mothers womb, it should still be the woman's choice as to whether or not she wants to continue with that pregnancy.
I wonder, do you support the Death Penalty? Why?

If you can't ever have a baby or an abortion because you're male, should you really be trying to project your opinion on those who it really would concern? How would you like it if the women of the world decided for you that you couldn't get a vasectomy? Personally I just figure that as I wouldn't ever be needing one I should just stay out of that battleground.

God was wondering .... do you eat eggs? While this may be you opinion, as a male it is not your choice to make and you must by the same token respect another's opinion even if it's different to your own. A victim of rape for example has already a lot to deal with, to refuse her the right to cleanse herself and heal is almost as bad as committing the crime in the first place.

I agree with you on some points, but when it comes down to it unless you are one of those extremist christians who blow up abortion clinics you are going to have to let people have their opinions. Not everyone will agree with you and I doubt you are going to pull anyone over to your side sounding so extreme on the subject. Keep your beliefs but take it down a notch.
