I'm having a IGCE, Cs project about prisoners and the new system, my question is- what is the process by which the criminal gets arrested until he gets to jail for example (they dress him the jail uniform, they take his stuff from him, they scan his finger print....etc) can somebody give me the right details ? please ?

What do you want to know, they get finger printed after the name and personal information has been checked, then they get checked for contraband and certain things like shoes laces and other things like that are taken away so they won't hurt themself or others, then after paper work is being processed they are going from a holding cell to the main unit and given a cell block and then they from there depending when allowed out can make phone calls from a payphone,.
in the mean time they are waiting for a date to go before a judge, or even before getting to the main unit they are placed in holding they might be able to have bail posted!,

In the U.K. the process goes like this. A suspected person is first arrested and taken to a Police station where he is charged. He is then held in Police Custody until his case comes before a Magistrate. At this hearing the Magistrate decides if the case can be dealt with by this (the lowest) court or if it is of a seriousness needing a higher court. If it must go to a higher court the magistrate, on advice from the police, decides if the prisoner can be set free either on his own recognizance, on bail with a fee or needs to be kept in prison on remand until his proper trial comes up. He may also be kept in prison on remand while the police make further investigations.
