I don't want to spend over $2, and I want it to be returnable, because her birthday is Friday, and who knows if she will make it?

A Bud Lite. Beer is good no matter how old you are.

Hmmmm....do you like your grandmother? 100 is a huge milestone and I would think a heartfelt card would be nice and that is going to run you at least over $2. Totally feel ya on the budget thing but you're right.....you don't know how much longer you will have her so you want this to be special. Flowers are always nice and you can pick some wildflowers up at the supermarket that should be reasonable. Or as someone else here mentioned, just a note saying what she's meant to you over the years would mean a lot. It really depends on the relationship you've had with her. If it's been good, then time is the best gift you can give her.

What if your grandmother indeed survived to see her 100th birthday celebration? You owe her something special for doubting whether she may make it to her 100th birthday or not, am I right? Well, I don't know if you could buy something for $2 but try maybe giving her a small pillow with her name embroidered perhaps. That ought to be special since it comes from the bottom of your heart and even if she may not make it before or on her birthday, then she can use the pillow and can bring it with her wherever she may go, unless your mother will return it back to you afterwards. Goodluck!

Oh my goodness. It may just be more tactful for you to just get her a card, if you're not wanting to pay more than two dollars. That's what I would do. Get her a nice card, and write her a nice note. Seeing as she's 100, if she can communicate, maybe you could write her a note telling her what she means to you and bring up memories of the two of you. That way, you're not spending a lot, and there's just not a lot a 100-year-old woman would really want for a birthday gift (most of them, anyway), but it would be like a good opportunity to let her know her life has meant something to you.

My Gram just turned 80 and she has everything in the world and is hard to buy for. So , I made her a gift box full of things she would like. Specialty stuff. Jordan almonds, scented soap, arnica cream for aches and pains. Flavored tea, can of Norfolk crab soup. All sorts of stuff. I would spend just a little more than $2. I think if that is all you will spend , maybe get her a large pink asiatic Lily from the cut flowers in like a Royers or someplace like that. They are beautiful and smell great!

For two dollars? Maybe a candy bar or a cup of tea?

Just give you grandmother a hug, and spend some time with her.

After 100 years, I do not think she is going to need much.

$2...cheapskate! But you are fortunate. I never knew either of my grandmothers. Make her a birthday card on the computer, tear it up then sit down beside her and ask her about her childhood, how did Grandpa propose, etc. Old folks love to reminisce and you'll make her happy that you cared.

What about writing her a letter telling her how much she has meant to you over the years. Be specific & give examples.Like you know grandma when I was 10 you said or did (fill in the blank)
It does not cost anything & it will make her feel so good.

I think you should go to one of those Dollar Tree or Its a Buck stores and find a little trinket for her. They have a variety of different things there, and you would be surprised how nice they are.
