Yes. Unfortunately many people these days tend to be inconsiderate. (Not just smokers; drivers, people who talk on cell phones..etc) If everyone would just be considerate of others we wouldn't need so many rules!

First of all, let me say that I am a smoker. Smoking bans in many ways infridge on our freedoms as americans. I feel that banning smoking from buildings and businesses that people have to go into is a fair plan. Such as from hosipitals, state buildings, grocery stores, daycare centers, children amusement places, ect. However, most businesses should be able to run their business the way they see fit. A business should have the right to refuse service if they do not wish to have smokers in their establishment. If a business owner wants to allow smoking, they should be able to do so in their own restaurants, stores, pubs, etc. They should be required to hang a surgions general warning sign in their windows to warn others that the establishment is not smoke free. It can even go as far as not allowing children into the establishment. This way non smokers can choose whether or not they want to enter an establishment that allows smoking. We live in the united states of american. All americans should have the same rights. The ban laws have taken freedoms away from all americans smokers and non smokers.

In the modern climate I think you have to....it has been brought in to make non-smokers live a more healthy life by having the choice not to inhale smoke....
I am not a smoker but have spent a good part of my life in pubs and have no real issue with people smoking providing it is 'not in my face' and generally people are considerate. But......it does not mean that people working in a pub or other patrons have to endure this...
Overall...other countries have proved that smokers will adapt quickly and that in the long run they will smoke less whilst out...this has to be a good thing. It may also stop a lot of young people, the heavy smokers of tomorrow.....from continuing the habit.
Either way get used to it....it's coming and as the years go by the rules I have no doubt will be tightened as time goes by.....

No i do not, i think this is an infringment of my human rights. I choose to smoke surely if someone has a problem with this they can surely find a space to stand in that they can breath only good old carbon monoxide from the heavy traffic and polution from the many power stations etc, I like to smoke, i enjoy it and as a majority where i live it is part of our socialising I think it is ridiculous to ask people not to do it in pubs it should go back to ye old tap room days and let the nazis drink in a smoke free, air conditioned oxygen tent and leave us fagaholics alone.

Yes I agree with it!
There is nothing worse than passive smoking! And being a non-smoker I hate the smell of smoke on my clothes after a night out even though I have been no where near smokers!

I think it is very good in most places although I think places where most of the clientele smoke should have a specific option to remain a designated smokers' venue. There are lots of local pubs in my area where 70-90% of the patrons smoke and I think banning smoking there would be unwelcome and damaging to business.
But as for most venues NO SMOKING is a great policy.

Unfortunately I am a smoker. I live in Scotland and as you probably already know smoking has already been banned in public places.
It's so much better now! I smoke less and the bars don't smell anymore, even as a smoker you find excessively smokey environments awful!

Well, on the one hand, I don`t agree with laws and restrictions regarding one`s personal life being imposed on people. They choose wether to smoke or not.
But on the other hand, since the cigarettes at first were kind of imposed to people as fashion trends, then I guess that`s the way of ridding society off this nasty habit.

I absolutely hate people smoking and what it does to them, and I can't stand the smell, but I don't think it's fair to ban smoking in pubs where people go to relax and wind down. If you don't like it, you have a choice to go into the place, or go somewhere where they have CHOSEN to have no smoking.

Wholeheartedly...whilst i am happy for smokers to sit at home and pollute their environment and damage their health, i do not elect to share their habit with them.
Also, after a night out in a smoke filled bar, I need to have a shower when I get home before I get to bed as the smell is too strong.
