Yeah, the road can be long. And winding.

Yes, it is a long road. However, the length of the road is up to the individual. We have the power to make the road shorter or longer.
Sometimes it takes longer, no matter how hard you try, but if we think about it, and put our best foot forward and push ... it is surprising how much shorter the road will become.

It's a long road
When you're on your own
And it hurts when
They tear your dreams apart
And every new town
Just seems to bring you down
Trying to find peace of mind
Can break your heart
It's a real war
Right outside your front door I tell ya
Out where they'll kill ya
You could use a friend
Where the road is
That's the place for me
Where I'm me in my own space
Where I'm free that's the place
I wanna be
'Cause the road is long yeah
Each step is only the beginning
No breaks just heartaches
Oh man is anybody winning
It's a long road
And it's hard as h***
Tell me what do you do
To survive
When they draw first blood
That's just the start of it
Day and night you gotta fight
To keep alive
It's a long road ...

It may be a long road, but it is a blessed road. Long and winding yes. Maybe even full of hills and bumps. But consider the alternative...I would rather be on the road.

Life as we know it --- is a long road.
It is a long road to recovery.
these saying refer to the idea that everything takes time. Life can be long or short but in comparison to no life, it is a long road. It takes time to recover from all sorts of wounds be they physical or mental(emotional).

with many a turning:

"Well, I'm so tired of crying, but i'm out
on the road again.
- I'm on the road again.
Well, I'm so tired of crying, but I'm out
on the road again.
- I'm on the road again.
I ain't got no woman
Just to call my special friend.
You know the first time I traveled out
in the rain and snow,
- In the rain and snow.
You know the first time I traveled out
in the rain and snow,
- In the rain and snow.
I didn't have no payroll,
Not even no place to go.
And my dear mother left me when
I was quite young,
- When I was quite young.
And my dear mother left me when
I was quite young,
- When I was quite young.
She said "Lord, have mercy
On my wicked son."
Take a hint from me, mama, please
don't you cry no more,
- Don't you cry no more.
Take a hint from me, mama, please
don't you cry no more,
- Don't you cry no more.
'Cause it's soon one morning
Down the road I'm going.
But I aint going down that
long old lonesome road
All by myself.
But I aint going down that
long old lonesome road
All by myself.
I can't carry you, Baby,
Gonna carry somebody else."

the road is what we make it. long, short, bumpy or smooth. and sometimes the comfortable way isn't the best way. do we want to improve our quality of life or remain in the "comfort zone", and eventually stagnate and... you fill in the blanks. it's our choice.
