I started collecting "Disney Pins" (answer for the previous answers)about 3 years ago when I became an annual passholder. I usually only collect the ones I like or think will become rare and collectible and I have about 300 pins. I have some passholder only pins, and the dining series pins which can only be bought by annual passholders and are going to be more collectible. There is so much to tell that it can take a loooong time, I suggest asking questions at the pin carts and of other collectors, it will take awhile to get up on the curve of all that is invloved in collecting pins, but it is a fun past time to have. Good luck!!

Yes, I pin trade.. I got stared about 8 month ago.
I get most of my pins thru E-Bay since I live in Texas it would get very expensive to goto the parks.
There are several types of pins
1)GWP = Gift with Purchase
2)Cast = Only available from a cast member
3)Limited Edition/Event = Limited to a certain # & Event pins are from cast member only events like a picnic.
4)You can trade 2 pins per cast member per meeting.
FYI: they HAVE to trade with you, they are NOT allowed to refuse.
5)Kids only- These are from the cast members and only availble to kids (there lanyard is green).
6) you can get limited edition pins thru the stores with $25.00 purchase.
7) ENJOY :)

Hi, I've heard of that, but never really got into it. I know the pins are a big deal, and I think it usually happens right at the entrance, and spreads down towards main street. Here's a wikipedia article, hope it helps!
