if you are thinking of moving to the dfw area, dallas and fort worth offer two very different but great options. dallas is more for a city dweller, someone who likes more cosmopolitian, city comforts. if you like clubs, fine dining, and a faster pace in life, dallas is it. fort worth is more laid-back, family kind of place. fort worth definately has the arts, music, and a great entertainment scene downtown, but it may be more difficult as a single. but fort worth is more casual and in some ways cheaper than dallas. traffic is bad in both towns, but i think dallas is a bit worse. so when moving, you want to look into getting a place in the same area as your work. you dont want to drive between dallas and fort worth, so much wasted time! overall the whole metroplex area has something to offer for everyone and it is in a great location. austin is 3 hours, san antonio and houston in 5. the housing is generally cheaper, but it will depend on where you choose to rent or buy. compared to los angeles, im sure the traffic will be easier. as for weather, both cities are about the same. really hot, limited rain summers, milder fall and spring, and a brief, but cold winter with at least a couple days of icing over. the spring time brings crazy weather with tornadoes sometimes and hail. the people are really friendly in both cities and you will have no trouble finding people to help you or become friends. if you like the outdoors, dfw has plenty to offer or you can drive within an hour or two to other opportunities. texas in general is a very diverse state and a great place to live. i definately recommend you visit first and see what you think before just moving. dallas/fort worth and texas in general is not for everyone.

Dallas has no beach, no physical beauty, and is very conservative. However, jobs are plentiful, the cost of living is still terrific and people are friendly.
Anyone can buy a house and Texas has no State income tax.
I moved from San Francisco to Dallas. I liked the SF climate and I loved the beauty and culture. I liked Texas because my job demands travel and I can have a big house.
