I mean, really Colombus Day? The Vikings came to North America long before Colombus, and so did other groups. Colombus was just the first to have the financial backing of royalty and happened to make his trip when the printing press was invented so many people read about his journey. But what did he discover? People already lived here! Telling history through only the European perspective just continues the idea that "white is right". When will it stop?

I know the Vikings were European, I am saying Colombus wasn't the first one here from Europe.

When K-12 school teachers realize that Black, Native American, Latino, Asian, and Women's history is all of our history and stop segregating these subjects into separate programs/courses.

You can find different resources and from different perspectives. Then you could build your own opinion.
I'm not sure about that of the Vikings but if that is true then is OK. Columbus was the first known to discover America. Probably at that time the Spaniards didn't know a lot about the vikings activities. That's the beauty of History! you can continue going deeper and deeper to find a version each time closer to the truth.
It is great that you are questioning yourself.. to be a critic is the best one person can have to find knowledge and strong personal opinions.

When the modern western civilization no longer dominates the majority of the world. And when the books that our kids read, and their teacher read, are no longer written from that point of view. It's not gonna happen any time soon....not until the muslims run the world (scary huh)

It will change when people actually learn from their education. Too many people don't agree with what they've been taught but they do nothing to change it. As parents we need to read our children's text books to see what view they're being taught from. We need to enter the classrooms and find out exactly what the teacher is saying and is he or she biased. As individuals we need to stop our friends and acquaintances when they make racist comments. Views such as those can be contagious and will infect others who have yet to seek out the truth themselves.

It will stop when more people like yourself actually do something about it and put your own info out there.
BTW - It won't be easy, but the first person doing somethig always makes it easier for the second.

History is told from other perspectives, you just need to find other sources (other authors) than Europeans!

The 'winners' write the history.
That's why the Vandals are remembered only for 'vandalizing' and the Romans seemed so fantastic.
