I am seeking a degree in a field that is unrelated to the job I am currently in. The classes I am seeking reimbursement for are just for the general education credits (Math and English), but I need to explain how they will "improve my skills with relationship to my job". For some reason, I am drawing a blank... I just don't want to get turned down for reimbursement. Anyone have any suggestions on how to word that section?
Thanks!

Oh - my degree will be science/biology based, and I'm working in Manufacturing right now.

English will help your communication skills and make you and your fellow employees more productive as a result.

Mathematics is a basic skill as well. Mathematics helps a person think critically and improves problem solving skills, which are applicable to manufacturing.

I went through the same issue with a former employer. What we found was that as I went further in my academic pusuits I became more productive, whicle also improving practices and methods in my job. If you have a good manager they will recognize that you are improving yourself, which will help on your current job.

I will say that I eventually had to quit my job to complete my degree. My former employer then found summer jobs for me in my field of study which helped me complete my degree and prepare myself to move into my chosen field.

You didn't say what industry the manufacturing is in. Maybe you can say that you are studying manufacturing management in medical devices or biomedical products.
If you're manufacturing furniture, you could have a problem.
