By definition, it can't be preeclampsia yet, because preeclampsia happens only after the 20th week of pregnancy.

(Yes, we all know someone who experienced all the symptoms of preeclampsia earlier than that, but 20 weeks is the medical cutoff for onset.)

A little swelling is normal.

Do you have pitting edema, where you push on your ankle and the mark stays?

Definitely put a call in to your OB. They should know that you're experiencing some swelling so they can watch you carefully. And they will be able to advise you, too, on what your prognosis is and what you can expect from here on out.

I had preeclampsia twice, too. And if I have another child, it will be considered a high-risk pregnancy from the very beginning, with visits to a hematologist and perinatologist as well as my OB.

Visit www.preeclampsia.org. I don't know how I would have made it through my pregnancies without the great people on their bulletin board....

a little swelling is normal. Most women retain water much more when pregnant. However, if you have a history of pre eclampsia, I would check with your physican. Have your blood pressure regularly check, not just at your monthly check ups. Drink lots of water. I know it sounds stupid, but the more water you drink, the less you will swell. Call your doctor since you have a history, though. They are the only ones that can put your mind at ease. Remind them too .... Doctors aren't superhero's and don't always remember previousu pregnancies.

call your OB and let them know that you are experiencing swelling, you might just have preclamsia this time too.

I think you need to go to A&E or call your maternity department. It's better to be safe than sorry.
I hope that everything is okay for you.
Best wishes,

ok. . . the swelling could be normal, but it could also mean your baby is not reciving enough oxygen. i suggest you go see a doctor fast.
