there is more to matching in astrology than just a persons sun sign..there really is not obvious reason that a Virgo(earth) cancer(water) can't work except the Virgo would think the cancer was to weak at times and the cancer would think the Virgo was to tough at times...usually i think that people ask these questions in astrology when they already know that things are going wrong and they think if an astrologist will tell them their signs are ok together then they will stick it out...not that easy..

Virgo is an Earth Sign, it goes perfectly with all Earth Signs (Virgo, Capricorn and Taurus) and goes so well with Water Signs (Cancer, Picses and Scorpio).
It doesn't really get along with Fire Signs (Leo, Sagittarius and Aries) and same with Air Signs (Libra, Gemini and Aquarius) There r so many differences, things could turn out to be real bad.
Virgo female and Cancerian male make a really good couple.

As someone born under Virgo too. I have come to see that Cancerian Males all freakin awesome at first then after a while I tended to think that they were a bit tooo clingy and controlling at times I thought that he was a bit crazy too. So Dont take my word for it. You wont know how it is till you find out. Go for it and see. It might work out great in the end.
p.s. I still think cancer men are stupid sexy!!

Cancer & Virgo
When Cancer and Virgo make a love match, a strong, down-to-earth relationship with staying power is the happy result. This is a relationship with great potential to get better and better over the passing years. Both Cancer and Virgo are goal-oriented and disciplined. They are sincere and devoted to one another and share a strong sense of purpose. No lightweight love here: These two were not really built for flings! Cancer and Virgo deeply admire one another: Virgo respects Cancer's quiet strength and dedication while Cancer appreciates Virgo's keen adaptability and intelligence.
These lovers may get off to a slow start, but over time, bonds will only grow stronger. The Cancer-Virgo love match prides itself on common sense and strong principles over fluff and inconsequential or fleeting connections. They enjoy the material comforts of life, but they will only feel good about their bounty if it has come as a result of honest hard work. There could be tiffs if Virgo becomes too critical for Cancer's easily bruised feelings; Cancer needs to understand that it's just Virgo's nature to point out what they observe, that it's not a personal attack. A Virgo may bristle at their Cancer mate's stubborn streak, but it's a trait that a patient and understanding love partner like Virgo could come to appreciate. Also, Virgo's urge to serve suits Cancer's affectionate, nurturing nature well.
The Moon (Emotion) rules Cancer, and Mercury (Communication) rules Virgo. Though they're very different planets, they're both near the Sun and therefore always in one another's neighborhoods. The Moon is a mothering influence; it's about cultivation and fostering growth, which are both central concerns for Cancer. Mercury is all about communication, and it's an androgynous energy -- Virgo will adapt and take on the form that it chooses, the guise that best serves a situation. Virgo takes an intellectual approach to life (especially compared to the emotional Cancer), but still manages to be perceptive and intuitive enough to figure others out if they choose. Good thing for the Crab, then, that a Virgo mate can get a feel for devotion and domestic fulfillment if that's what their Cancer lover desires. These two won't argue about fulfilling one another's needs. They'll work at it and relish the rewards of their conscientiousness.
Cancer is a Water Sign, and Virgo is an Earth Sign. Earth Signs, true to their name, are down-to-earth, but they can also be materialistic and preoccupied with acquisition. The Cancer-Virgo love partners like to surround themselves with comfortable, well-crafted things. Water Signs rely on feeling and intuition, making Cancer the emotive force behind this relationship, in a subtle Cancer way, of course. Along with their desire for prosperity, their love of a fancy home life ensures that this couple will work hard toward this shared goal. Also, they're practical pair, and losing control is never really an issue.
Cancer is a Cardinal Sign, and Virgo is a Mutable Sign. While Cancer gets things going, Virgo thrives on a changing routine of responsibilities and challenges. Because they're so ubiquitous, Virgo will find a place in Cancer's plans if they really want to. Virgo will keep in mind Cancer's plans, and will eventually bring results even if Cancer has moved on.
What's the best aspect of Cancer-Virgo relationship? Their dedication to working toward the same goals. Both partners in this love match enjoy a stable home life and nice things, and Virgo truly enjoys helping Cancer along the way to achieving their goals. Their shared goals and desires make theirs a highly compatible love match.

I'm a Virgo...and my husband's a Cancer. It's the best relationship I've ever been in my life....
Cancer's when in balance are loving, nurturing, supportive and loyal and will give you the shirt on their backs and their pants and socks... They will love you when no one else will, when your parents have passed, when you gain weight, when you have glue in your eyes and kiss you passionately when you have the worst morning breath...Cancer's are highly intuitive and can intrinsically feel out people's moods and energies...and will never judge or criticize you...something that a Virgo can do in a nanosecond...lol
When Cancer's out of balance: clingy, moody, unrealistical daydreamers and tend to romanticize about the good ole days, and by far their greatest fear is rejection. It's like a knife wound to the heart for them. And even though it's an inevitable part of life they avoid it like the plague.
Virgo's are perfectionists by nature and need the calming nature of a Cancer to relax their microscopic eye. Highly misunderstood, Virgos are loving and caring and make great partners because they are not highly demanding. They know how to fufill their own needs and can live a life of enjoyment in solitude. Their are known for their intellectual wit, eye for detail, and unbeatable organization skills.
Out of balance Virgo: thinking to much before actually doing, highly critical of self and others (judgemental), knit-picking, perfectionism to a fault, self-righteous, and they hate to be criticized because they are very aware of their own faults and do not like to have them pointed out by anyone else! They could get a million compliments on the perfect dinner that they've made and that one idiot will having the Virgo ego plummeting if a off-beaten comment is made about the way the meal was lukewarm...She will forget all praise and focus on the negative...
Sexually, Cancer brings out the best in Virgo's hidden passion's...so when Virgo releases watch out...she is no virgin as many believe that she is...what's important to a Virgo woman is that she is not objectified or turned into a sexual object for man's pure physical pleasure...integrity, honesty and respect go hand in hand for her when giving the gift of her body....
Cancer is extremly loyal.. .a trait that people are sorely lacking today and a Virgo will spot this diamond in the rough when the rest of the world roams as a selfishly self-serving body...
These two are a match made in heaven and will be best friends for life...Cancer needs stability because of his highly volatile emotions and Virgo needs emotional stimulation to broaden her intellectual spectrum.
Hope this helps!

It depends on how well you can work together. I, myself is a Virgo, but I don't like Cancer men because they turn out to be big liars and cheaters.
