If the volume is 6 * 10^9, then its side length is the cube root of this, which is cbrt(6)*10^3, or 1817.12, approximately.

Well, a cube is equal sides. And volume is Length x Width x Height. We don't know the actual numbers, but we do know they will all be the same. For example 100 x 100 x 100. This means it's going to be a number cubed (or to the third power), like 100^3 (100 to the third power).

Since it's 6 billion, you want to find what number to the third power equals 6 billion.

Length x With x Height = volume.
In a cube, Length, With, and Height are all equal.
So, length x length x length = volume of a cube
Which can be simplified to:
length to the third power = volume of a cube
You said the volume is 6 billion, So
length to the third power = 6 billion
Now we find the cube root of each side of the equasion.
cube root of length to the third power= cube root of 6 billion
the cube root and the third power cancel each other out and we are left with:
length = cube root of 6 billion
which equals about 1817

And there you have it. (That was sooo easy)

First of all, volume is length times width times height.
Since it is a cube, each of the sides is the same length.
Each of the sides must be the cubed root of six billion, which is the cubed root of 6 times 1000.

6 billion is 6*10^9 and, since it's a cube, each edge is the same length so you're looking for the cube root of 6 billion which is cube root(6)*10^3 or

just make an equation... a cube has all equal sides. to find volume, it's:

base x width x height

so... some number to times itself, times itself is 6 billion.. so, that leaves you with x^3 = 6 billion.. you can take the root in your calculator... that will give you one side. good luck! =)

Think about what a cube is. Judging by all the answers above, everybody else in the world appears to be able to figure this out (apart from the comical '12') . Think for yourself and you stand a chance of one day getting a job to pay for your drugs and alcopops habit before you have kids and spend life on the social.

Since it's a cube the length = height = width
Therefore the length, height, and width would be the cube root of the volume.

it would be:
6000000000^(1/3) = 1814.12 units
